Gabriela Buenrostro's practice is defined by movement—both physical and conceptual. Although painting is central to her work, she also incorporates language, objects, photography, engraving, drawing, and encaustic, embracing an intuitive and playful approach to art.

Her abstract compositions layer forms, colors, and gestures like a palimpsest, dismantling shapes and shifting between neutral palettes and vibrant accents. Circles appear frequently in her work, symbolizing cycles, transition, and repetition. Written fragments often accompany her paintings, expanding their narrative and poetic resonance. 

Subtle biographical traces emerge through references to places she has lived, such as Singapore and London, as well as elements of global and Mexican popular culture. Her exploration across media opens pathways to multiple interpretations—from the symbolism of the circle to the iconography of lucha libre—reflecting her ongoing search and transformation as an artist.
